About me

Me (left)

I am Sjoerd.

I love whisky. I like other drinks too, but whisky is my preferred poison.

I live in Krommenie, near Amsterdam. In The Netherlands we’re quite lucky to have boatloads of whisky retailers and a very liberal import policy for bottles from elsewhere. This means there’s always something new too try. Oftentimes there’s too much.

Some of my favorite distilleries are Springbank, Lagavulin, Clynelish and Bowmore, but also non-Scottish distilleries like Zuidam, Yamazaki and Wild Turkey.

I try to blog several times per week but sometimes life gets in the way. I occasionally host a tasting and I do a lot of bottle-shares through slightly more private channels.

    Sjoerd,

  6. Dear Sjoerd,

My company is A Wee Taste of Scotland and we are the European importers for the Prometheus series of whiskies from The Glasgow Distillery Company. Could you give me an address to which I can send you a tasting bottle please?

    Many thanks,

  7. Hi,

I really like your website. I’m a big fan of whiskey in general. So much so we’ve started sourcing and aging coffee beans in whiskey barrels. Any chance you would be up for reviewing our coffee for your blog readers? I can send out some free samples to you. Awesome site by the way.

    Let me know.
    Thanks.
    John

  11. Hi there,

I hope you don’t mind me contacting you out of the blue. I’m Vanessa, Marketing Intern at Douglas Laing & Co, and working on behalf of the Syndicate Blended Scotch Whisky which is distributed by Douglas Laing.

We believe that Syndicate 12 Years Old is a bit of an “unsung hero” of the whisky world! We’d love to send you a sample. If you’re happy to receive this, can you share your postal address please?

To give you a bit of background – the Syndicate blend contains 18 Single Malt Whiskies and 4 Single Grain Whiskies. The quality and consistency of the blend has been maintained over the years by operating a ‘Solera’ system whereby when additional 12 year Old whiskies are added they are reblended with the older stock, so the Syndicate that’s bottled today still contains small quantities of the original 1958 blend. The whisky spends its final 2 years maturing in first fill Oloroso Sherry casks, giving a rich, complex character to the spirit.

Look forward to hearing from you!

    Thanks
    Vanessa Hogan
