The Ultimate Adventure!

Bowmore is running their Ultimate Adventure contest in which you can win a trip to Islay and a professional photography course while you’re at it!

On MaltFascination you can also win a few things:

A full bottle of the flagship whisky from the Islay distiller: The Bowmore 12. A second prize is a glass, little water jug and a miniature spirit still lock.

Glass, Jug and Lock

The only thing you have to do is go to their website and subscribe to the Inner Core. That, as whisky lovers, you have already done a few years ago of course. Finally you have to answer one small question: “Tell us what the outdoors means to you?”

You can find all details to the competition here!

Bowmore 12, up for grabs! To promote this there has been advertising and this post is nothing else, plus a small competition. I was contacted by Douglas Wilson of Yomego (who do the advertising around The Ultimate Adventure) to see if I was interesting in adding my voice to the competition. To be fully honest I doubted whether or not I should, commercial biases and such. But in the end there was an incentive, since I would receive stuff and be able to do with it what I like. Keeping it for myself or giving it away. A kind of a “lord of the rings style” test of character!

I decided to part with what I got. To get your hands on the prize you only have to post the answer you gave on the Bowmore site in the comments to this post and in a few days I will pick the one I think best to receive a bottle of Bowmore 12!

So, join the competition, post your answer below as well and who knows what you might end up with!

One limitation: I can’t send anything to the US due to customs. If I would the shipping would be more expensive than the bottle so that’s kind of ridiculous.

When i was visiting Islay, i tried to cover the island by bicycle, began at Port Charlotte but never made it past Bowmore. Of course i did the distillery tour and enjoyed a nice bit of tasting, but missed out on the rest of the island. I’d love another chance to explore Islay some more (especially with Bowmore).

When visiting Bowmore distillery we got a very special Bowmore to drink, it’s on video and for everyone who still has to go to the distillery you can see some of the distillery by clicking the link and watch the special treat. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1OkqbdxOTto

I’ve never visited Islay… yet… but in my opinion Bowmore is the The Ultimate Islay Adventure while sitting on the couch at home with your friends enjoying this dram!

To me the outdoors means a walk with the family after a nice Sunday Roast dinner with a hip flask at hand, especially this time of year.

  7. The outdoors mean for me running. I don’t look like to most fit person around but I have a great mind and lot’s of spirit to go out enjoy a nice run. Most of the times I do this with great friends. The same goes for my other hobby: tasting great drams. This is also something you need to do with GREAT friends.

  8. The outdoors to me is a way to relax… It’s just that simple. You can relax by just walking in a forest or go hiking. Or stare through the window into a heavy rain storm, sipping a nice dram!

To me, the outdoors means stepping into another world, one without the burden of modern life. It means a breath of fresh air, literally and metaphorically speaking. It means accepting whatever weather nature has to offer, be it rain or sun, sleet, snow or gale-force winds, and making an adventure of it. It means being satisfied with the simple pleasures of life. Though after the long walk and prolonged exposure to the outdoors, it is exceedingly pleasant to sit down and have a drop of whiskey.

  10. The outdoors means life. 🙂

To me the outdoor means having the freedom to see and experience the world as the rough diamond it is.

Relying on your own self and the preparation you did. It reminds me of my time after I graduated high school. A 6 day trip trough the alps around the mont blanc.

    Absolute peace and freedom.

  12. Not completely sure what answer I provided (was a couple weeks ago) but here goes:
The outdoors for me means being alone, breathing fresh air, clearing your mind, experiencing the complete peace and force of mother nature.
